23-31.08.2018 Summer Academy reproductive design Architectural visions for the 'Platz der Luftbrücke'

In August 2018, students from Wiesbaden, Dortmund, Siegen, Rotterdam, and Berlin will be part of a Summer Academy developing visions for the future of the 'Platz der Luftbrücke' in Berlin-Tempelhof. The focus is not only the current state of affairs, but also the conscious handling of history and the historical architecture of the square. The help of the design strategy
of "Reproductive Design" will be used to approach this memorable place. The basis for this is the formulated manifesto of 2014 with the 8 theses formulated therein. The "Reproductive Design" is characterized by the concrete and unprejudiced handling of historical references from the entire history of architecture, since it is not possible and certainly not sensible to start over again and again. Based on the assertion that "Reproductive Design" works at any scale and in any place, today's 'Platz der Luftbrücke' in Berlin, with its multiple historical levels, offered an extremely and highly suitable location for this kind of architectural design.
